Key accused in rape-murder of 11-yr-old girl in Bengal shot dead in police encounter

The prime accused in the rape and murder of an 11-year-old girl in West Bengal's Baruipur was shot dead by police early Wednesday, officials said. The police opened fire after the accused, Prabhas Mondal, attempted to snatch a firearm and flee during the reconstruction of the crime scene. The girl's body was found stuffed in a sack in a pond.
