Kilonova space explosion could end life on Earth, scientists call it 'rare' occurrence
Scientists in US have explained that kilonova, a powerful event that happens when two neutron stars merge, may pose threat to Earth due to release of lethal radiation. However, they said Earth would need to be within approximately 16 light-years of the event's epicentre to experience these consequences. They also reassured that kilonova is considered to be a rare occurrence.
