Kochi City Police arrested five members of a gang accused of cheating a private pawn shop in Palarivattom of nearly ₹1 crore using fake hallmarked jewellery. The gang allegedly gained trust by first pledging genuine gold before submitting fake ornaments. Police recovered fake jewellery, materials, and devices linked to the fraud. Further investigation revealed similar scams across Kerala.
