Kolkata DCP Saumya Roy transferred before polls as wife is TMC MLA

Election Commission of India (ECI) transferred IPS officer Saumya Roy from the post of deputy commissioner (South West) of Kolkata Police before Lok Sabha elections. This comes as his wife, actor Arundhuti Maitra (popularly called Lovely Maitra), is a TMC MLA from Sonarpur Dakshin. An official said ECI ordered that Roy be transferred to a post not linked to elections.
