Kolkata's first widow remarriage location awaits heritage tag
Thanks to the Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar's reformist zeal, British govt had just passed Widow Remarriage Act in July, 1856. Not even six months later, on December 7, a young widow was married again from what was then 12 Sukesh Street and later renamed 48 Kailash Bose Street. The Kolkata Municipal Corporation is trying to list it as a heritage building.
