Kolkata Traffic Police mandated to carry firearms on night duty

The Kolkata Police Headquarters issued a notification directing traffic police personnel to mandatorily carry firearms on night duty. "Firearms and ammunition must be collected from the local police station before joining night duty. When the duty is over, firearms have to be deposited there," it stated. Traffic policemen face several issues during naka checking when unarmed, police said.
