LA Unified School District blocks generative AI for all students

Los Angeles Unified School District, the second-largest US school district, is blocking student access to generative AI tools on district-issued devices during the 2026-27 school year. Unlike NYC's ban limited to eighth grade and below, LAUSD's restriction applies to all students. Teachers may still use AI for educational purposes while the district develops a broader AI policy.
