Ladakh LG notifies LAHDC Amendment, Hill Councils in all 8 districts

Ladakh LG Vinai Kumar Saxena notified the LAHDC (Amendment) Regulation 2026, effective October 19, enabling Hill Councils in all 8 Ladakh districts, including newly created Sankoo. The regulation, promulgated by President Murmu on October 16, was implemented within six days of Union Cabinet approval. It revises council seats to 7–24 and mandates four nominated members for women and underrepresented communities.
