Lagaan director first offered Aamir's role to SRK, Abhishek

Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker had originally approached Shah Rukh Khan to play the male lead character Bhuvan in Lagaan and after being turned down, he went on to approach Abhishek Bachchan for the same role. Aamir not only played the character Bhuvan but also co-produced the film, which has completed 16 years since its release on June 15, 2001.
