Lala Chunnamal: the man who purchased the Fatehpuri Mosque

Chunnamal Ki Haveli in Chandni Chowk, which is over 170 years old, was owned by Lala Chunnamal, a wealthy textile merchant from Shahjahanabad. He was one of the first people to have a car in that era and earned a monthly income of over ₹1 lakh. After the revolt of 1857, Britishers auctioned the Fatehpuri Mosque to him for ₹19,000.
