Laser therapy shown to destroy prostate cancer in trials

A laser therapy involving the injection of a light-sensitive drug has successfully been shown to destroy tumour cells which cause prostate cancer. The treatment, called Vascular-targeted Photodynamic therapy (VTP), was tested on 413 patients across ten European countries. The therapy was seen to cause only short-term urinary and erectile problems, which were resolved within three months.
