Last manned Moon mission was launched 45 yrs ago on this day

Launched on December 7, 1972, Apollo 17 still remains the last manned Moon mission. With the mission, late astronaut Eugene Cernan had become the last person to walk on the Moon, while Harrison Schmitt is the most recent living person to achieve the feat. After spending three days on lunar surface, the crew returned to Earth on December 19, 1972.
