Law can't orphan a prisoner: HC as it frees man held in UP jail over U'khand case

The Allahabad High Court ordered the release of a man lodged in UP's Rampur jail after it was concluded that the alleged case occurred in Uttarakhand. Calling his continued detention illegal, the court said that "law cannot orphan a prisoner". The man was accused by his wife of assaulting her in an incident in Uttarakhand's Udham Singh Nagar district.
