Leader of Islamic State in the Greater Sahara killed by France

French President Emmanuel Macron has said that the country's military forces have killed the leader of Islamic State in the Greater Sahara, Adnan Abu Walid al-Sahrawi. In August last year, Sahrawi personally ordered the killing of six French charity workers and their Nigerian driver. Sahrawi's group had also targeted US soldiers in an attack in Niger in 2017.
