Let adultery remain a crime: Govt tells SC on 157-yr-old law

Adultery must remain a punishable offence so the sanctity of marriage can be protected, the Centre told the Supreme Court. The court was hearing a petition saying not just the man, but the woman he has a relationship with must also be punished. The 157-year-old law says a man having sexual relations with another man's wife will be jailed.
