Libya's Haftar says UN-backed deal 'thing of the past', takes formal control

Libyan National Army (LNA) commander General Khalifa Haftar has declared a UN-brokered deal to unite the country as a "thing of the past". Haftar said that his army was accepting the "will of the people" and taking formal control of the country. In April 2019, LNA launched an offensive to seize capital Tripoli from the UN-recognised Government of National Accord.
