Argentina captain Lionel Messi on Monday missed his third in-game penalty in FIFA World Cup history. Messi failed to convert from spot in ninth minute of Argentina's FIFA World Cup 2026 Group J match against Austria. He earlier missed penalties against Iceland in 2018 and Poland in 2022. Messi needs one goal to become leading goalscorer in FIFA World Cups.
