Argentina captain Lionel Messi won Princess of Asturias Award for Sports 2026. The jury highlighted Messi's "exceptional sporting career and his formidable and ongoing charitable work to promote access to education and healthcare for the most disadvantaged children". The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner has won 47 titles, including four Champions League titles and the FIFA World Cup 2022.
