Two separate outbreaks of listeria - a bacterium that has caused widespread contamination across the United States and Canada - have led to food recalls from various supermarkets. According to the CDC, at least two people have died and several others hospitalized due to the infection, which if not treated well in time can cause sepsis and meningitis.
