Little merit in it: SoftBank CEO on Musk's space data centre idea

SoftBank Group CEO Masayoshi Son dismissed Elon Musk's vision of AI data centres in space and said there's little merit in this idea. He said space-based data centres offer little advantage because chips, transport costs and latency matter more than cheaper electricity in the AI infrastructure race. SoftBank will focus on building "formidable" data centre capacity on Earth, Son added.
