The Lok Sabha on Tuesday passed the Finance Bill, 2019. Finance Minister Piyush Goyal had in the bill proposed to raise tax rebate for people with annual income up to ₹5 lakh from ₹2,500 to ₹12,500, which will result in them not having to pay any tax. The tax-related proposals were aimed at helping the poor and middle-class, he said.
