Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan not to fight general elections

Lok Sabha Speaker and BJP leader Sumitra Mahajan on Friday said that she will not contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In a letter, Mahajan said that the party has been delaying the announcement of the candidate's name from Indore, which led her to assume the BJP has hesitation in naming her. The 75-year-old has represented Indore constituency since 1989.
