London Mayor plans to raise council tax by £20 to cover TfL costs

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has announced plans for increasing council tax by £20 a year, over the next three years, to support cash-strapped Transport for London (TfL). The raise would estimatedly generate £172 million annually. Khan said the government's refusal to properly fund TfL has "forced" him to take this step to prevent the transport body from collapsing.
