Long COVID may damage dopamine neurons, trigger fatigue and brain fog: Study

A study published in eBioMedicine said long COVID may injure dopamine-releasing neurons in the brain, potentially causing persistent fatigue, low motivation and brain fog. Researchers conducted PET scans on people with long COVID to measure a biomarker reflecting health of dopamine nerve terminals. It showed lower levels of this marker in the striatum, a brain region responsible for movement.
