Loud explosion at Mangaluru refinery shakes houses, 8 injured

A loud explosion-like sound was reported from the premises of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) in Mangaluru, with thick black smoke seen rising from the refinery. As many as eight people were injured in the incident. Residents in nearby areas including Jokatte, Kavoor, and Yeyyadi said windows and gates of their houses were damaged.
