Low prices, ineffective pesticides push HP tomato growers to brink

Tomato growers are feeling the pinch of low market prices even as the rising cost of pesticides has increased the production cost manifold. Growers visiting the Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) in Solan to sell their produce rue that many pesticides available in the market are proving ineffective. Pal Singh Thakur, a grower, says, "Pesticides are supplied by Mumbai-based company."
