Lower berth allocated to women, senior citizens: Railway Minister

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has informed Rajya Sabha that lower berths for senior citizens, pregnant women and women above 45 are automatically allotted based on availability, even without manual selection. A fixed quota exists across Sleeper, 3AC and 2AC coaches. Special reservations and upgraded accessibility features also exist for persons with disabilities across train services.
