Lt Gen Manoj Pande appointed Indian Army chief, 1st engineer to hold the post

Lieutenant General Manoj Pande has been appointed as the new Indian Army chief. He's the first Corps of Engineers officer to hold the post. Pande, who was appointed Vice Chief of the Army Staff in February 2022, will succeed General MM Naravane as Army chief. A decision on the appointment of the Chief of Defence Staff is reportedly still pending.
