Lufthansa cuts 20,000 unprofitable short-haul flights to save fuel

German aviation giant Lufthansa Group is removing 20,000 unprofitable short-haul flights from the schedule through October amid rising jet fuel prices driven by Iran war. The reductions will reduce overall capacity by less than one percent in available seat kilometres (ASK) while saving more than 40,000 metric tons of jet fuel. The cuts primarily affect routes in Frankfurt and Munich.
