Latest agriculture Census data says that a total of 1 lakh farmers abandoned agriculture as their sole profession in the last 5 years in Maharashtra. According to State Agriculture and Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse, farmers in the state have lost a lot of agricultural land due to industrialization, road widening and the creation of new roads.
