M&S to take ₹3,400-crore hit from cyberattack, refuses to confirm if it paid ransom

Marks & Spencer confirmed that its profits may take a £300-million (over ₹3,400 crore) hit, mainly due to its online ordering service being unavailable following a cyberattack. CEO Stuart Machin said "threat actors" had gained access to its systems using "social engineering" techniques, like posing as a staffer. He, however, refused to answer whether M&S paid a ransom to hackers.
