Macron calls for G7 meeting on releasing more oil reserves

French President Emmanuel Macron said that he would convene a G7 meeting in the coming weeks to discuss releasing more strategic oil and fuel reserves amid soaring energy prices. This comes as the escalating Middle East conflict and the Russia-Ukraine war have disrupted supply. In March, the IEA had agreed to release a record amount of supply from emergency reserves.
