Made in India bullet train to debut on Surat-Vapi stretch in 2027

India's first indigenous B28 bullet train, manufactured by BEML, is set to debut on the 97-km Surat-Vapi stretch of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor in August 2027. The Railway Ministry announced this in a Parliamentary report, emphasising indigenisation amid Japan collaboration. Project costs have escalated to over ₹1.5 lakh crore due to inflation, land hikes, taxes.
