Madras HC halts oath for TVK MLA who won by 1 vote as rival challenges poll result

TVK MLA R Srinivasa Sethupathi was prevented from taking oath by the Madras High Court after DMK leader KR Periyakaruppan, whom Sethupathi defeated by one vote, challenged the poll result. Sethupathi polled 83,365 votes in Tirupattur constituency, while Periyakaruppan secured 83,364 votes. The DMK leader has alleged that there were irregularities in the counting of postal ballots.
