Maha approves draft ordinance on constitutional status for SC Commission

Maharashtra cabinet approved a draft ordinance to accord constitutional status to the Maharashtra State Scheduled Caste Commission. The cabinet also requested the Central government to increase OBC income limit to qualify for the 'non-creamy layer' to ₹15 lakh per year from the current ₹8 lakh. The decision comes ahead of Assembly elections in state, which are scheduled for this year.
