Maharashtra couple sells newborn for ₹1.2 lakh to buy gold, phones

Police in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar rescued a nearly one-month-old baby allegedly sold by a live-in couple for ₹1.2 lakh to buy gold and mobile phones. The infant was resold multiple times for higher amounts before reaching Hyderabad. Seven people, including parents and alleged facilitators, were arrested. The baby was placed in orphanage pending Child Welfare Committee’s decision.
