Maharashtra declares Jan 15 as public holiday for local body polls

The Maharashtra Government has announced a public holiday on January 15, 2026. This holiday applies to 29 municipal corporations, including Mumbai City and Mumbai Suburban districts under the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, which are going to the polls on January 15. This has been done to ensure maximum voter participation in the elections, including high-profile BMC elections.
