Maharashtra farmers end 62-hr highway blockade after sugar deal

Sugarcane farmers called off their 62-hour blockade of Pune-Bengaluru NH-48 after reaching a deal with sugar mills at Kolhapur collector's office. Under the new 'Kolhapur Formula', farmers will receive ₹3,900 per tonne as first payment, plus ₹100 at season's end, and a 70% share of additional profits if sugar crosses ₹4,500/quintal.
