Maharashtra govt to provide ₹5,000 to pregnant women

Aiming to provide ₹5,000 as financial aid to pregnant and lactating mothers, the Maharashtra Cabinet on Tuesday approved the implementation of Centre's Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. The scheme, which is expected to benefit 8 lakh pregnant women, will cost the state exchequer ₹140 crore. Women have to register themselves at government hospitals to avail benefits under the scheme.
