Maharashtra makes Aadhaar mandatory for property registration from Oct 1

Maharashtra government has made Aadhaar-based identity verification mandatory for registration of immovable property documents from October 1. This applies to documents across 63 categories, including sale, purchase, mortgage and partition deeds. The move will curb impersonation and fake witnesses, reduce human intervention and increase transparency, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said.
