Maharashtra makes domicile certificate mandatory to obtain driving licence from Aug 1

The Maharashtra government has made domicile certificate mandatory to obtain a driving licence from August 1, 2026, Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik told the state legislative assembly on Tuesday. He said the proposal for the new licence rules had been sent to the Law and Judiciary Department for approval. The proposal would be implemented after receiving the necessary clearance, he added.
