Maharashtra orders minimum 10% water cut from October 16
Maharashtra government ordered a minimum 10% water cut across all urban local bodies from October 16, citing reduced rainfall, limited water availability and the impact of El Niño. The government also directed local bodies to prevent leakages and ensure sewage treatment plants operate at full capacity. Water Resources Minister Girish Mahajan said drinking water would receive the highest priority.
