Maharashtra passes bill to recognise women farmers

Maharashtra Assembly has passed the Women Farmers Empowerment Bill to recognise women farmers and improve their access to welfare schemes, and Women Farmer identity cards. The bill also proposed a dedicated fund and special assistance for single women farmers. It broadly defines a 'woman farmer', covering not only crop cultivation but also allied agricultural activities such as animal husbandry.
