Maharashtra CM says drought relief measures initiated

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said the state government has begun drought-relief measures without waiting for central aid, amid Opposition demands for immediate drought declaration. Crop-loss assessments (panchnamas) will begin after October 5 as per rules. The state government will fund relief from its own resources while seeking NDRF assistance through due procedure.
