Maharashtra to apply law meant for terrorists on Gutka manufacturers

Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will now invoke Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), a law generally used against terrorists, for gutka manufacturers. Gutka has been prohibited in Maharashtra since 2004, FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe said. "There are multiple players: manufacturers, transporters, and sellers working in a nexus. It is organised crime," Mundhe said.
