Maharashtra to build 4 state-run ports in Konkan region

Maharashtra plans to build four state-owned ports in Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg under the Viksit Maharashtra 2047 initiative. Ports minister Nitesh Rane said the Maharashtra Maritime Board is drawing up the plan, which could generate ₹5,000 crore — a shift from the current model where private operators lease coastal land, earning the state just ₹250 crore annually.
