Maharashtra village with 1,300 population issues 27,000 death & birth certificates

An irregularity has surfaced in Maharashtra's Civil Registration System (CRS) software records after around 27,000 birth and death certificates were generated in a village with a population of just 1,300. Officials said in December that 27,398 delayed birth registrations were recorded in a village in Yavatmal district within just three months. A SIT has been formed to probe the matter.
