Mahatma Gandhi priced autographs at ₹5 to help quake victims in 1934

In May 1934, Mahatma Gandhi arrived in Bihar's Bhagalpur district to oversee the earthquake relief work being carried out by the Congress party. Gandhian thinker Kumar Krishnan said a lot of people present at the gathering wanted Gandhiji's autograph, and he obliged them by charging ₹5 for each signature. The money collected was donated to the victims of the earthquake.
