Mahatma Gandhi was thrown off train in South Africa

Mahatma Gandhi was thrown off a train at a railway station in South Africa in 1893 after a white man objected to him travelling in the first class coach. Gandhi spent nearly 21 years in the country practising law, and adopting Satyagraha against the government's racist policies. Gandhi returned to India on January 9, 1915, with his wife Kasturba.
