Mala Gaonkar launches biggest woman-led hedge fund with $1.8 billion

Mala Gaonkar's SurgoCap Partners began trading with $1.8 billion under management, the biggest debut of a woman-led hedge fund in the industry's history. Prior to SurgoCap, she was a founding partner of Lone Pine Capital and worked for the Boston Consulting Group. Born in the US and raised mostly in Bengaluru, she attended Harvard University and Harvard Business School.
